Wildcats fall to Colgate in final game of Atlantic Slam Tournament

Weber State is next in action at home on November 27.
MONCTON, New Brunswick, Canada - Weber State erased an early deficit with a huge second half run but Colgate pulled away with a run to end the game as the Raiders beat the Wildcats 57-55 in the final game of the Atlantic Slam Tournament Sunday afternoon.
Colgate led 28-20 at halftime and started the second half on a 5-2 run to take its largest lead of 11 points with 16:09 to play.
Colgate led by nine points at 38-29 with 13:15 to play when Weber State came to life with a 17-0 run and took an eight-point lead with 8:35 to play. The Wildcats made three 3-pointers in that stretch with two coming from sophomore Louie Jordan.
From the 11-point deficit, WSU had a nine-minute stretch of a 26-7 run and led by eight points with 7:06 to play.
That's when Colgate responded with a 16-2 run and took a six-point lead with less than a minute to play. Weber State cut the lead to one point with six seconds left but couldn't get a shot in the final possession.
Colgate, the preseason favorite of the Patriot League, shot 41 percent from the field, compared to 36 percent for Weber State. The Raiders also outrebounded the Wildcats 35-25.
Dillon Jones once again led the Wildcats with 14 points and had seven rebounds and a season-high five assists.
Dyson Koehler and Steven Verplancken each added 10 points. Jordan came off the bench with nine points in 10 minutes of play and was 3 of 5 from 3-point range.
The Wildcats are now 3-2 on the season.
Weber State will return home from a long week of travel from California to New Brunswick. The Wildcats will have this week off and return to action with a home game on Monday, November 27 at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center against Navajo Tech.
