OGDEN - Weber State won its third-straight game with a 61-47 win over Westminster Tuesday night at the Dee Events Center.

It's the first three-game winning streak for Weber State since 2018.

Westminster had an early lead before a big Wildcat run to take control. WSU ended the first quarter on a 9-0 run and then outscored the Griffins 17-6 in the second quarter. The Wildcats closed the second quarter on a 26-6 run and led 32-14 at halftime.

Westminster shot 58 percent from the field in the third quarter but Weber State had another big run and took its biggest lead of the game at 23 points early in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats ended the game shooting 39 percent from the field and knocked down seven 3-pointers. The Griffins shot 37 percent and were 0 of 2 from 3-point range.

Weber State forced 22 Westminster turnovers and had 29 points off turnovers. The 'Cats also had 13 steals and dished out 14 assists.

"We did a lot of things well and were in the right spots and played well," said Weber State head coach Jenteal Jackson, who was a player and coach at Westminster before coming to WSU.  "I'm really proud of our group and how they continue to do the right things and support each other."

The reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Daryn Hickok led the Wildcats with 18 points. She was 7 of 15 from the field and knocked down four 3-pointers. That gives her nine 3-pointers in the last two games.

Jadyn Matthews had 16 points, also on 7 of 15 shooting, and pulled down a season-high nine rebounds, along with three steals and two assists.

Weber State plays its next four games on the road, beginning this Saturday, December 16 at Air Force.
