Wildcats hit the road at Air Force Saturday

Weber State has won three-straight games. 'Cats now start a four-game road trip.

• With a three game winning streak, the Weber State women's basketball team hits the road to take on Air Force Saturday afternoon.

• The Wildcats and Falcons will tipoff at 1 p.m. from the Clune Arena at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado. The game will be televised on Altitude 2 and on the Mountain West Conference Digital Network. Live video links and stats at WeberStateSports.com.

Weber State is 3-7 on the season and has won its last three games. The Wildcats opened the season with seven-straight road games and started 0-7 but have since on three straight games. WSU defeated Nevada at home, won at Utah Tech, and is coming off a 61-47 win over Westminster on Tuesday night at the Dee Events Center. This is Weber State's first three-game winning streak since March 2018. 

Wildcat senior Daryn Hickok continued her strong play by leading the team with 18 points and made four 3-pointers in Tuesday's win. Hickok was named the Big Sky Player of the Week earlier on Tuesday after averaging 21 points, 6.5 rebounds, with six 3-pointers in the wins over Nevada and Utah Tech. Hickok has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games and leads the Wildcats in scoring at 12.2 points per game, which is ninth in the Big Sky. She also leads the team with 15 3-pointers. She has made nine 3-pointers in the last two games and only made nine 3-pointers in all of last season. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 113 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks seventh in career scoring. 

Senior Jadyn Matthews added 16 points and a season-high nine rebounds in Tuesday's win. It was her fifth time scoring in double figures this season. She is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game and leads the team in rebounding and field goal percentage. Matthews has played in 121 career games at Weber State, tied for the fourth-most in school history, and ranks fourth in career rebounding and 15th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season. 

Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster. 

Air Force is 6-4 overall this season. The Falcons have won their last two, including a 68-60 win over Big Sky member Northern Colorado last Saturday. Air Force was 13-18 overall last season and was picked to finish seventh in the Mountain West preseason polls this year. 

This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs and the first since 2017. Weber State is 6-3 all-time against the Falcons and has won the last four meetings. Air Force's last win came in 2006. 

Saturday's game is the start of a four game road trip for the Wildcats. Weber State will play at nationally ranked Utah next Thursday, December 21, the open Big Sky Conference play December 29 and 31 at Montana and Montana State.
