Wildcats take on nationally-ranked Utah Thursday in Salt Lake City

Weber State and No. 11 Utah tipoff at 12 p.m. on Thursday at the Huntsman Center.
• Weber State heads south for an in-state game against nationally-ranked Utah Thursday afternoon in Salt Lake City.
• The Wildcats and Utes will tipoff at 12 p.m. from the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. The game will be streamed online on the Utah Live Stream. Live video links and stats at WeberStateSports.com.
• Weber State is 3-8 on the season. The Wildcats started with their first seven games on the road but then won three straight games with wins over Nevada, Utah Tech, and Westminster. The 'Cats are coming off a 70-58 loss at Air Force last Saturday.
• Through the first 11 games, Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 11th in the Big Sky at 12.1 points per game has scored in double figures in the last four games for the Wildcats. She also leads the team in scoring, 3-pointers, and steals and is third in rebounding. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 114 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks seventh in career scoring.
• Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures six times this season and leads the team in rebounding at 5.3 per game. She is second in scoring at 11.7 points per game and second in assists and steals. Matthews has played in 122 career games at Weber State, which is tied for the third-most in school history. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and 15th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.
• Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.
• Utah is 9-2 on the season and ranked 11th in the nation in the latest national polls. The Utes have won seven of their last eight games with their only loss to No. 1 South Carolina. The only other loss of the year was at No. 21 Baylor.
• Utah is first in the nation in field goal percentage at 54.1 percent and first in 3-point percentage at 42.8. They lead the country in 3-pointers per game at 13.8 and assist at 25.0.
• This will be the 57th all-time meeting between the two instate schools with Utah holding a 50-6 series lead. The Utes have won the last nine games against the Wildcats and Utah is 25-1 all-time in games in Salt Lake City. Weber State's last win in the series was in 2008 in Ogden.
• After Thursday's game, the Wildcats will open Big Sky Conference play with two road games. Weber State will play at Montana on Friday, December 29 in Missoula, and play at Montana State on Sunday, December 31 at 2 p.m. in Bozeman. The Wildcats will next be home for a non-conference game on January 6 against Kansas City.
