WSU football adds 10 for December 2023 signing class

OGDEN - Weber State football added 10 new players to join the Wildcat program as part of the December 2023 National Signing Day.Â
The Wildcats added one FCS transfer and nine freshmen coming from Utah, California, and Texas. Tyler Chen joins the WSU program as a transfer from Utah Tech, where he sat out as a red shirt last season.
Three of the players, Frankie Edwards, Tamal Johnson, and Chauncey Sylvester, all come from the same high school in California, St. John Bosco.Â
The group includes five defensive players and four offensive players. There are three running backs, two cornerbacks, a linebacker, a safety, a defensive end, and a wide receiver.Â
"This is a special group that we have signed that all come from great families," said Wildcat head coach Mickey Mental. "This is a good class to address some of our needs and we will add pieces to it to complete this class."Â
The February National Signing Day will be on Wednesday, February 7.
Weber State was 6-5 in 2023 and finished the season with three straight wins, including a win over No. 4 Idaho.Â
