Weber State will host Nevada at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the first home game of the season.

• The Weber State women's basketball team will finally play a home game as the Wildcats host the University of Nevada Wolfpack Wednesday night in the home opener for the 2023-24 season.

The Wildcats and Wolfpack will tipoff at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Dee Events Center. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with Brandon Garside calling the action. Live stats available at WeberStateSports.com.

The Wildcats have played their first seven games on the road, including six true road games. WSU's last game was a 79-53 loss at Oregon State last Wednesday.

Weber State is one of three schools in the country that has not played a home game yet this season.

Through the first seven games, WSU has been led by senior Jadyn Matthews who is leading the team in scoring at 10.3 points per game and is second in rebounding at 4.6 per game. She is also first in field goal percentage. Matthews has played in 118 career games at Weber State and ranks fifth in career rebounding and is 15th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.

New Wildcat transfer Kendra Parra is second on the team in scoring at 9.4 points per game and leads the team in assists at 2.0 per game.

WSU senior Daryn Hickok is averaging 8.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She is now eighth in WSU history in career scoring and is third in career free throws. She was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team.

Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.

Nevada is 5-3 on the season and has won three of the last four games. The Wolfpack homed the season with a win over Big Sky member Sacramento State and also have wins over Pepperdine, South Alabama, Central Arkansas, and San Diego.

This will be the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools who were once both members of the Big Sky Conference. Weber State is 9-6 overall and 6-2 in games in Ogden. The two teams have not met since 2010, a Nevada win in Ogden. The Wolfpack have won the last three games in the series.

After Wednesday, the Wildcats will be back on the road at Utah Tech on Saturday afternoon, before hosting Westminster next Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
