Wildcats fall 74-69 to Montana

Weber State is 8-5 in Big Sky play with five conference games remaining.
OGDEN - Montana shot 52 percent and knocked down 14 3-pointers to beat Weber State 74-69 Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
The Grizzlies were 14 of 25 from 3-point range, the most 3-pointers made against the Wildcats this season.
Montana had an 11-0 run early in the first half and took a 25-16 lead, after making 10 of its first 12 shots, including 5 of its first 6 3-pointers.
The Griz led 37-31 at halftime and and took their largest lead at 16 points at 58-42 with 16:58 to play.
Weber State responded with a 22-5 run over the next 15 minutes and cut the lead to three points at 67-64 with 1:55 to play.
After an Aanen Moody 3-pointer extended the Montana lead to 70-64, Dillon Jones scored on 3-point play to cut the lead to 70-67 with 1:16 remaining, but the Grizzlies made four free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.
The Wildcats shot 48 percent from the field and were 8 of 19 from 3-point range. Montana outrebounded the Wildcats 33-23.
Dillon Jones led the Wildcats once again, finishing with 21 points. He also had eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. Jones also became the 37th player in Weber State history to reach 1,000 career points.
Zahir Porter scored a season-high 15 points off the bench with three 3-pointers. Steven Verplancken added 14 points with two 3-pointers and Alex Tew had 11 points.
Weber State now sits at 13-13 overall and 8-5 in Big Sky play, currently third in the league standings with five games remaining.
The Wildcats hit the road for two games this week at Sacramento State on Thursday and at Portland State on Saturday.
