2023 Big Sky Conference Indoor Championship Preview

It's Conference Championship week for the Wildcat track and field team and there are several athletes that will compete for conference titles and all-conference honors. Events for the championship will begin on Thursday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. with the men's and women's multi's competition where three athletes have competed so far for the Wildcats this season, Elizabeth Littlewood, Payge Walz, and Lynzey Searle, all freshman representing a strong tradition of multis athletes at Weber State. The Women's Pentathlon will be completed Thursday afternoon, leaving Friday and Saturday for the rest of the individual events to commence.

On the track Cidnee Davies-Bohn and Payge Walz each have strong performances in the 60-meter hurdles this season with Davies-Bohn ranked third in the Big Sky currently with a time of 8.58. Walz ranks seventh with a time of 8.68 and both will be in serious contention for all-conference honors.

In the 800 meters, Kami Withers currently ranks twelfth in the conference with a time of 2:15.03.

The reputation of strong distance runners at Weber State is represented by several athletes in high-ranking positions heading into the conference meet in both the 3000 and 5000 meters. In the 3000 Rylie Lusk ranks tenth with a time of 9:30.37, and Bailey Wall is fifteenth at 9:35.71. The 5000 has Lusk ranked seventh at 16:36.63, Bailey Winter ranks just behind in eighth at 16:55.41, Jessica Hill is thirteenth at 17:46.67, and Danielle Brow is fourteenth at 17:46.82.

Billie Hatch looks to repeat as conference champion in both the 3000 and 5000 where she currently ranks second in each distance. Her time's each rank top in the school history books with a time of 9:13.37 in the 3000, and 15:45.95 in the 5000. Hatch also sits seventh in the mile with a time of 4:45.06.

Jumpers have a strong representation for the Wildcats as well with three athletes tied for thirteen in the high jump currently with marks of 5-03.75 each, Payge Walz, Sydney Searle, and Elizabeth Littlewood. They'll look to earn collegiate PRs in competing for all-conference.

Long jump representation will come from Makayla Oliver currently in fifth place with a jump of 18-06.00, Davies-Bohn is sixth with 18-05.75, Littlewood in tenth at 18-00.25, and Walz in fourteenth with a mark of 17-09.50.

Throwers have good positions in the shot put from Dawson Rothenbuhler in fifth with a throw of 44-11.50, and in the weight throw with Megan Larkins in second with a throw of 60-09.25, and Lia Katoa in sixth with 55-08.50.

It's sure to be an exciting weekend of competition for the Wildcats with a lot of potential for high marks, personal bests, all-conference, and conference champion performances. The meet at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, ID will be available on ESPN+, and live results will be available when the meet begins.
