Wildcats Finish Third at Big Sky Conference Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf team posted a final round 301 on Wednesday to earn a third place finish for the second-consecutive season at the Big Sky Conference Championships at Talking Stick Golf Club.

The Wildcats entered the day in second place, but dropped one spot on a tough scoring day that saw all 10 teams play over par. WSU finished the tournament with a final score of 10-over par 874.

Sacramento State won the team championship, posting an 8-under par total of 856. Montana State finished at 872 in second place, 16 shots behind the Hornets.

The Wildcats placed all five players inside the top-16 overall, led by Aerin Song, Sofia Fuenmayor and Isabel Gutierrez, who all finished in a tie for 9th place at 4-over par 220.

Emily Song posted the round of the day for Weber State, carding three birdies in a 1-under par 71 to post one of only two scores in red figures among the entire field over the final round. Emily finished the tournament in a tie for 13th place at 5-over par 221, moving up 12 spots on the leaderboard over the final 18 holes.

Jessica Zelasko rounded out the Wildcat team, posting a 6-over par total of 222 to finish in a tie for 16th overall.

Sacramento State's Caitlin Maurice shot a 4-over par 76 on the final day, but held on to her lead in the individual medalist race, finishing one shot clear of second place Jaelin Ishikawa of Eastern Washington at 5-under par 211 for the tournament.
