Wildcats, Scheffer Post Second Place Finishes at Yellowstone Intercollegiate

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Weber State women's golf team and freshman Vienna Scheffer each posted runner-up finishes as the Yellowstone Intercollegiate wrapped up on Tuesday at Riverside Country Club.
The Wildcats shot a three-round total of 22-over par 886 to finish in second place in the team standings, while Scheffer shot a 2-over par 218 to finish second in the individual medalist race.
Weber State opened up the tournament with a 13-over par 301 in the opening round, but then went only nine shots over par total through the final two rounds, posting scores of 291 and 294 to close the tournament, playing even with tournament-host and eventual team champion Montana State over the final 36 holes.
Scheffer shot a 4-over par 76 to open the tournament, but came back with consecutive rounds of 1-under par 71 over the last 36 holes. She carded seven birdies for the tournament, including three in each of her rounds of 71.
Cala Korman joined Scheffer in the top-10, posting rounds of 75, 71 and 75 for a 5-over par total of 221 to finish in a tie for eighth. Korman carded three birdies in each round for a total of nine over her 54 holes.
Braylyn Bayer just missed the top-10, finishing in a tie for 11th place. Bayer opened the event with a 5-over par 77, but played the final 36 holes in 1-over par with rounds of 73 and 72 for a 6-over par total of 222. Bayer also recorded nine birdies, five of which came in the final round.
Jade Gruher gave the Wildcts four players in the top-25, finishing in a tie for 24th place at 11-over par 227 on rounds of 75, 76 and 76.
Weber State's scoring team was rounded out by Payten Baca, who tied for 33rd place at 14-over par 230 after shooting rounds of 75, 79 and 76.
Playing as individuals, Erika Kobayashi shot 237 to tie for 50th place, while Salina Lui finished 65th at 250 and Elsa Krause was one spot back in 66th at 254.
The Bobcats posted a 10-over par 874 to win their home event, while North Dakota's Mallory Uselman shot 1-under par 215 behind an opening round 67 to claim individual medalist honors.
