Weber State's Dillon Jones has been invited to the 2023 NBA Draft Combine this week in Chicago.Â
Â
Jones was one of 44 college basketball players from across the country invited to the NBA G League Elite Camp, held Saturday and Sunday in Chicago. He played in two games at the event and totaled 24 points, 14 rebounds, six steals, and three assists.Â
After his performance, he is one of eight players from the NBA G League Camp invited to compete in this week's NBA Draft Combine. He'll join 78 previously invited players for the pre-draft event.Â
The combine allows players the opportunity to workout in front of all 30 NBA teams in preparation for the 2023 NBA Draft. The Microsoft Surface NBA Draft Combine will be held May 15-21 in Chicago. TV coverage will be Wednesday, May 17 from 12-4 p.m. MT, and Thursday, May 18 from 2-6 p.m. MT on ESPN2. During the event, players will have interviews with NBA teams and participate in five-on-five games as well as shooting and strength and agility drills.Â
Jones is the first Wildcat to be invited to the NBA Draft Combine since Joel Bolomboy in 2016. Bolomboy was drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft that year by the Utah Jazz. Damian Lillard competed in the draft combine in 2012 before being drafted sixth by the Portland Trail Blazers.Â
Jones declared for the draft but is maintaining his college eligibility while getting feedback from NBA teams. He has also done individual workouts with NBA teams this summer.Â
The Columbia, South Carolina native has played three seasons at Weber State and was a unanimous selection as All-Big Sky first team and earned first-team all-district honors this past year. He led the Wildcats in points, rebounds, assists, and steals and recorded 20 double-doubles on the season, tied for the third-most of any player in the country. He led the country in defensive rebounds with an average of 10.1 per game, nearly two rebounds ahead of second place in the nation and finished fifth in the nation in overall rebounding at 10.9 per game.Â
He has played in 88 career games with 65 starts in his three seasons at Weber State, and ranks fifth in school history with 833 career rebounds and eighth in career rebounding average. He is also fifth in career steals with 147 and ranks 22nd in career scoring with 1,138 career points.Â
He is the only player in Weber State history with at least 1,000 career points, 800 rebounds, 250 assists, and 100 steals.Â
