‘Cats Fall Short 1-3 Against Utes, Close Out Non-Conference Play

Salt Lake City, UT - Weber State volleyball fell to Utah on Friday night in four sets (18-25, 20-25, 25-15,16-25) wrapping up its non-conference play.
Weber fell into a 10-17 hole to start the first set after Utah rattled off a 7-1 run. The 'Cats kept within seven points after battling back, but couldn't get any closer as the Utes pulled out a 18-25 victory.
Off to a quick start in the second set, the 'Cats scored five in a row, pulling ahead 6-1. However, a run of five consecutive points for the Utes later on put them ahead by one. Weber State battled to regain the lead trailing close behind, but the momentum continued for Utah and they went on to win the set 20-25.
Weber State struck first in the third set and pushed out to an early 7-0 lead. Keeping the momentum, Utah could not pull within more than four points and later saw Weber to win 25-15.
The fourth set was evenly matched to open, but the separator came after Utah rallied off four consecutive points to take a 4-10 lead. The 'Cats couldn't pull ahead later and Utah finished the match 16-25.
Baylee Bodily led the team with 14 kills on the night and Dani Richins with 12. The 'Cats hit just a .146 compared to the opponents' .213 hitting percentage.
