Wildcats Pull Out First Conference Win Against Montana

Missoula, MT - Weber State volleyball began its regular season in fine form with a 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 24-14) victory over a tough Montana Grizzlies team.
Weber State caught fire as the first set progressed. Using a 4-1 run at the beginning of the match to stay ahead of the Griz, Montana tried to chip away at the lead but the 'Cats were there to stop any momentum and Montana couldn't pull ahead. Weber went on to win the first set 25-15.
Montana took control of the second set early on with Weber State trailing close behind. To take the lead, a kill by Dani Richins pushed the 'Cats ahead by one 9-8. However, a kill made by Montana's Ellie Scherffius tied the set 12-12 and the 'Cats were unable to recover falling short 24-26.
For a period of time, it seemed like Montana was going to run with the third set too but a 3-1 run towards the end of the match secured the 25-21 win for Weber.
Weber State got out to a big lead early on in the fourth set and kept its foot on the gas pedal. The Wildcats took the set 24-14 ending the match with a commanding 3-1 win.
