‘Cats Fall In Five To Hornets

Ogden, UT – In five-set fashion, Weber State volleyball came close on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Sacramento State Hornets 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 25-21,17-25, 9-15).
The two sides exchanged leads all throughout the first set. WSU took a 16-11 lead but the Hornets came back with six consecutive points to gain a 17-16 advantage. Battling to regain the lead, WSU fell 24-22 to Sacramento State after another six-point run to earn them the 25-23 victory.
The second and third sets both fell in favor of the Wildcats as their momentum swung back. A four-point run in the second set put the 'Cats up 19-14. A four-point run by the Hornets put them close, but the Wildcats held strong until the end pulling out a 25-20 win. Into the third set, Weber State trailed behind Sacramento State but a kill made by Mia Peterson tied it up 14-14. The 'Cats went on to a three-point run to pull ahead 19-15 and keeping their momentum with that lead went on to win 25-21 putting them ahead 2-1.
The 'Cats took a fall in the fourth set with a 17-25 loss and forcing a fifth set. The final set of the evening was close with both teams tied at 9-9. However, Sacramento State took a six-point run and never looked back ending the match 15-9.
