GAME NOTES: Wildcats On The Road This Week

Weber State travels to Eastern Washington for an afternoon game.
• Weber State travels to Cheney, WA to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles.
• The Wildcats and Eagles will tip off at 12 p.m. (MT) from Reese Court in Cheney, WA. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Live video links and stats can be found at WeberStateSports.com.
• Weber State is 5-12 overall and 2-2 in the Big Sky. The Wildcats started with their first seven games on the road but then won three straight games with wins over Nevada, Utah Tech, and Westminster. The Wildcats are coming off their second Big Sky win on the season against Portland State 89-53 this past Saturday. The victory was the largest margin win over a Big Sky opponent since 2001 for the Wildcats and a new program record for a single game at 64.3 FG%.
• Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 10th in the Big Sky at 12.0 points per game and has scored in double figures in ten games for the Wildcats. Hickok leads the team in scoring and steals. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 120 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks sixth in career scoring.
• Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures nine times this season and is second in scoring at 11.5 points per game. Matthews collected a career high 30 points in the Wildcats game against Sacramento State while also recording a season high 11 rebounds and five assists. She is first in rebounding and second in assists for Weber State. Matthews has played in 128 career games at Weber State. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and 13th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.
• Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.
• Eastern Washington is 13-3, 3-0 on the season. The Eagles have won their last seven games with their last win against Idaho 67-44. The Eagles sit in first place in the Big Sky and are led by Aaliyah Alexander who sits second in the Big Sky in scoring at 16.4 points per game. The Eagles Jamie Loera is second in the Big Sky in assists averaging at 5.7.
• This will be the 92nd all-time meeting between the two schools with Weber State holding a 48-44 series lead. In the last match up between the two teams, the Eagles beat the Wildcats 64-31 in Cheney. Eastern Washington is 26-17 in all-time games in Cheney and 15-28 in Ogden. The Eagles last win in the series was on 2/23/23 in Cheney.
• After Thursday's game, the Wildcats travel to Moscow, ID to go up against the Idaho Vandals Saturday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. (MT).
