Wildcats Struggle Against Eagles

Weber State heads to Moscow for another road game against Idaho.
Cheney, WA – Weber State women's basketball opened up their road trip weekend Thursday afternoon at Eastern Washington with a 38-56 loss.
Daryn Hickok started the afternoon off for the Wildcats with a layup, putting Weber State up on the board first. Eastern Washington kept the quarter close and pulled away from the Wildcats after a seven-point run however, a pair of free throws made by Taylor Smith allowed the 'Cats to trail the Eagles by two. With six seconds left Eastern Washington's Jamie Loera put up a jumper, and the Eagles led 14-10 headed into the second quarter.
Reclaiming their lead in the second quarter, Weber State went up by one 15-14 with a three-pointer made by Smith. It was a very defensive quarter as there were no baskets made from either team until a pair of free throws were made by the Eagles. Eastern Washington's scoring quickly caught fire after as they went on a nine-point run. Unable to chip away at the lead, Weber State went into the half 19-26.
Weber State led the first half in rebounds with 21 and shot 32% from the field with Eastern Washington at 31%. Struggling with turnovers, WSU had 16 compared to EWU's 7.
The third quarter ended with a scoring flurry from the Eagles. A nine-point run increased the gap between the Wildcats and Eagles and it was a 19-point game heading into the final frame, 28-47.
The Eagles defended their home court and continued their winning streak closing out the game with a 38-56 win over the Wildcats.
Top Performances:
Daryn Hickok put up 11 points for her eleventh time this season.
Taylor Smith had a double-double putting up 11 points and a career high 10 rebounds.
