GAME NOTES: Wildcats Close Out Weekend Against Idaho Vandals

Wildcats are back home Monday, Jan. 22 for a game against the Montana Lady Griz

• Weber State travels to Moscow, ID to take on the Idaho Vandals. 

• The Wildcats and Eagles will tip off at 6 p.m. (MT) from the ICCU Arena in Moscow, ID. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Live video links and stats can be found at WeberStateSports.com.

• Weber State is 5-13 overall and 2-3 in the Big Sky. The Wildcats started with their first seven games on the road but then won three straight games with wins over Nevada, Utah Tech, and Westminster. The Wildcats are coming off a loss this past Thursday against Eastern Washington, 38-56.

• Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 11th in the Big Sky at 11.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in eleven games for the Wildcats this season. Hickok leads the team in scoring and steals. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 121 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks sixth in career scoring.

• Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures nine times this season and is second in scoring at 11.3 points per game. Matthews collected a career high 30 points in the Wildcats game against Sacramento State while also recording a season high 11 rebounds and five assists. She is first in rebounding and second in assists for Weber State. Matthews has played in 129 career games at Weber State. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and 13th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.

• Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster. 

• Idaho is 9-7, 2-2 on the season. The Vandals lost their last game against Idaho State 56-61. Their last win was  against Chicago State University, 80-52. The Vandals sit in sixth place in the Big Sky and are led by Kennedy Johnson in scoring at 11.3 points per game and steals. Hope Butera leads the team in rebounding averaging 8.2 per game.


• This will be the 53rd all-time meeting between the two schools with Idaho holding a 32-21 series lead. In the last match up between the two teams, the Vandals beat the Wildcats 77-52 in Moscow. Idaho is 18-6 in all-time games in Moscow and 13-11 in Ogden. The Vandals last win in the series was on 2/25/23 and the Wildcats last win was on 2/24/18. 


• After Saturday's game, the Wildcats are back home Monday, Jan. 22 to host the Montana Lady Griz at 6 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
