GAME NOTES: Wildcats Head to Pocatello for Road Clash with Bengals

• Weber State travels to Pocatello, ID for a game against the Idaho State Bengals. 


• The Wildcats and Bengals will tip off at 2 p.m. from Reed Gym in Pocatello, ID. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Live video links and stats can be found at WeberStateSports.com.


• Weber State is 6-14 overall and 3-4 in the Big Sky and currently sit in seventh place. The Wildcats started with their first seven games on the road but then won three straight games with wins over Nevada, Utah Tech, and Westminster. The Wildcats are coming off a home game loss against Montana, 55-87.


Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 9th in the Big Sky at 12.2 points per game and has scored in double figures in twelve games for the Wildcats. Hickok leads the team in scoring, free throws, and steals. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason
All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 123 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks fifth in career scoring.

Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures eleven times this season and is second in scoring at 11.7 points per game. Matthews collected a career high 30 points in the Wildcats game against Sacramento State while also recording a season high 11 rebounds and five assists. She is first in rebounding and second in assists for Weber State. Matthews has played in 131 career games at Weber State and ranks first in Weber State history in career games played. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and 12th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.

Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster. 

Idaho State is 8-10, 4-3 on the season. The Bengals won their last game against Montana State, 62-53 in Pocatello. The Idaho State squad is led by Tasia Jordan in scoring at 11.1 points per game. Kacey Spink leads the team in free throws, rebounds, assists and steals. The Bengals currently sit in fifth place in the Big Sky. 


This will be the 96th all-time meeting between the two schools with a series of 48-48. In the last match up between the two teams, the Bengals beat the Wildcats 57-41 in Ogden. Idaho State is 26-22 in all-time games in Pocatello. The Wildcats last win in the series was on 1/27/18.


After Saturday's game, the Wildcats are back home in the Dee Events Center Thursday, Feb. 1 for a game against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
