OGDEN - A tough Weber State squad battled this Thursday evening, securing a five-set match victory to the Sacramento State Hornets.
SET 1 |Â The Weber State squad made quick work of the Hornets taking the first set 25-15. The Wildcats jumped out to a 12-6 lead, following four kills, two from Jayda Tupea, one by Saane Munyer and another from Rose Moore. Quickly after, a 4-0 run for the 'Cats increased that advantage 18-8 to secure the set in their favor.
SET 2 | Sacramento State battled to earn the second set 25-23 with Weber State trailing close behind for the majority of the set. WSU tied it up 16-16 but was unable to take the advantage from the Hornets.
SET 3 | Weber State regained momentum in the third set earning a 25-16 victory. An early 16-8 lead forced Sacramento State to a timeout. Following that, a four-point run which included two blocks, one by Liana Woodley and Kate Payne and the other by Woodley and Ashley Gneiting gave the Wildcats enough separation to take the set win.Â
SET 4 |Â The Hornets tied up the match again 2-2 following their 25-20 set four victory. However, it was a back and forth battle between the two squads with the score tied 10 separate times. Following a WSU timeout, a 3-0 Wildcat run pushed the match to a fifth set.Â
