GAME NOTES: Wildcats open season against Park Gilbert and Utah

Weber State women's basketball will host Park Gilbert (AZ) on Monday, November 4 at 4 p.m. in the Dee Events Center to begin their 2024-25 season. Later that week, the Wildcats travel to Salt Lake City for a game against Utah Thursday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m.

Weber State is under the direction of second year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.

This will be the first meeting between Weber State and Park Gilbert.

The Wildcats and Utes meet for the 58th time with a series of 51-6 for Utah. In the last game between the two, the Utes beat the Wildcats 89-36 in Salt Lake City. Utah is 26-1 in all-time games in Salt Lake City.

After Thursday's game, the Wildcats are home to host San Diego on November 12. Following that, Weber State has six road games. The Wildcats travel to Utah Tech, Nevada, Boise State, North Dakota, Seattle, and Arizona. The next home game for WSU will be on December 20 against Utah Valley.

WSU women's basketball has a complete roster of five returners, five transfers, and five newcomers.

Five Wildcats return to the squad this season. Seniors Kendra Parra, Kennedy Eskelson, and Margarita Satini. Sophomores Taylor Smith and Amanda Edwards.

The Wildcat squad added five transfers to the roster. Seniors Kaitlin Burgess from Boise State and Rose Bubakar from BYU. Juniors Antoniette Emma-Nnopu from UNCG and Lanae Billy from Fort Lewis College and sophomore Japrix Stubbs from USU Eastern.

Five players make up the freshman class. Maya Davis a 5-11 guard/forward from Seattle, Washington, Fui Niumeitolu a 5-9 guard from Sandy, Utah, Mata Peaua a 6-2 forward from Reno, Nevada, Vanna Quintana a 5-9 guard from Dinuba, California, and Dakota Nap a 6-1 guard/forward from Renton, Washington.
