Bozeman, Mont. - The Weber State Wildcats showcased their resilience and teamwork as they defeated the Montana State Bobcats in a three set match that concluded with a score of 3-0 in favor of the Wildcats on Thursday evening at Shroyer Gym. This win improves the Wildcats conference record 7-3. Weber State will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming match this Saturday against the Montana Griz.
From the outset, both teams displayed their skill and determination. The first set was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team willing to give an inch. Until the Wildcats managed to edge out the Bobcats, taking the set 25-22 after a late rally that showcased their defensive prowess.
Bringing that winning energy into the second set, the Wildcats jumped out to an early 6-1 lead over the Bobcats. With a series of powerful and effective attacks, Weber State secured the set 25-19, earning a 2-0 advantage in the match.Â
As the third set unfolded, Montana State fought hard to stay in the match. They established a lead early on, capitalizing on a trio of Wildcat errors. Despite the Bobcats efforts, a 10-0 run for the Wildcats gave the squad the space needed to secure the set 25-17 and sweep the match.Â
The standout performers for Weber State included Rose Moore, who led the team with 15 kills, a new single-game career high and a .500 hitting percentage. Ashley Gneiting totaled 13 kills and Jayda Tupea 10 for the Wildcats.Â
Weber State will face Montana on Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m. in Missoula.Â
