Missoula, Mont. - In an exciting match up this Saturday afternoon, Weber State defeated Montana in three straight sets and continued their winning streak.
SET 1 | The Wildcats came out strong, taking the first set 25-21 with an offense led by Ashley Gneiting with 4 kills.Â
SET 2 | Montana fought hard in the second set as the Griz squad pulled out to an early lead. However, it was not long before Weber State's defense tightened up and offense started to execute kills. A 6-0 run by WSU tied up the score and then took the lead putting the Wildcats ahead by four. Three of those six points came from big kills by Rose Moore. Montana rallied to tie the set 17-17 until a trio of kills helped boost Weber State to a 25-19 victory.Â
SET 3 | As the third set unfolded, Montana fought hard to stay in the match. They established a lead to start the set but the Wildcats quickly took that over. Not allowing the Griz another lead during the set, a five-point run separated the two squads enough for WSU to win the set 25-21 and sweep the match.Â
With this victory, Weber State improves 8-3 in the Big Sky Conference. Gneiting totaled 13 kills to lead the Wildcats and Jayda Tupea had 10 for a hitting percentage of .360.Â
