RENO, Nev. - The comeback 'Cats battled to come back from a eight-point deficit using a 17-point run in the second quarter to surpass the Wolf Pack and ultimately take the game 66-62.
First Half | A tough start to the first quarter, the advantage was in favor of Nevada thanks to a nine point late run. Wildcat Antoniette Emma-Nnopu snapped that run with a layup and another followed by Mata Peaua before the quarter ended 17-9 for the Wolf Pack.
Weber State came out on fire in the second quarter. After three and a half minutes of game play, the Wildcats boosted themselves to a 10-point lead following a 17-0 run. Two three-pointers made by Rose Bubakar, one by Rita Satini and another by Kendra Parra helped the 'Cats to that advantage and a tough Wildcat offense went into the half 40-27.
Second Half | A lower scoring quarter for the Wildcats, Weber State put up 11 points compared to Nevada's 16. A battle of runs in the third, the Wolf Pack went on an early eight-point run before the Wildcats responded with a seven-point run. Nevada then went on another 8-0 run before the quarter closed 51-43 with the purple and white on top.
With just ten minutes left of game play, Nevada strung together a couple of runs to trail Weber State by two. The Wolf Pack took the lead 57-56 until two good Parra free throws put the 'Cats back on top 58-57. The Wildcat offense kicked into gear and five good free throws were what the Wildcats needed to secure a 66-62 win over the Wolf Pack.
