OGDEN - After closing out his college career with two school records in a season-ending win, Weber State's Kyle Thompson has been named the Big Sky Conference Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.Â
Thompson earned the honor for his performance in Weber State's 28-17 season-ending win over Cal Poly Saturday at Stewart Stadium.Â
On Senior Day, the senior tied a Weber State record with five field goals. He was a perfect 5 of 5 on field goals and made field goals of 30, 36, 26, 30, and 43 yards. The five field goals are tied for the most in a game in Weber State history. He's the third player in WSU history to make five field goals in a game.Â
It was the final game for Thompson, one of seven seniors on this year's Wildcat team.Â
He played in 52 games in his Wildcat career that began in the spring 2021 season. He's ending his career with two school records.Â
With five field goals on Saturday, Thompson tied the Weber State career record for field goals with 67. He is now tied with WSU Hall of Famer Scott Shields (1995-98), for the most field goals in school history.Â
Thompson also finished his Wildcat career as Weber State's all-time leader in points scored with 370, which is also the sixth most in Big Sky Conference history. Â
