Dale has spent eight seasons at Weber State, including the last four as the Co-Defensive Coordinator.

Weber State football head coach Mickey Mental has named Joe Dale as the Defensive Coordinator for the Wildcats. Dale takes over as the full defensive coordinator after spending the last four years as a Co-Defensive Coordinator. He also coaches the Wildcat safeties.

"I'm excited and grateful for this opportunity and I appreciate coach Mental for trusting me with this," Dale said. "This is an opportunity and step I wanted to make in my career and I'm grateful to continue coaching players that mean a lot to me and a place that means a lot to me."

Dale just finished his eighth season on the Weber State coaching staff. In his eight years, he has helped Weber State to three Big Sky Championships and four trips to the FCS Playoffs. He has also helped lead the Wildcats to one of the top defenses in the Big Sky Conference in several seasons.

Dale came to Weber State in March 2018 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota, where he coached the defensive backs and was the special teams coordinator.

At Weber State, he has coached one All-American and several players that have earned All-Big Sky honors.

A native of Irving, Texas, Dale played football at the University of Utah from 2006-09. He was a four-year letterwinner and started at safety in every game of his last two seasons with the Utes.

He played in 47 career games at Utah and started in 27 games. He was named the Defensive MVP of the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl and had five career interceptions. He played in four bowl games and was part of the 2008 team that went undefeated and won the Sugar Bowl.

Following his career at Utah, he coached for three seasons at Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho. He then spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a graduate assistant at Utah, working with all aspects of the team, including recruiting.

Dale graduated from Utah in 2010 with a degree in Sports Management. He and his wife Kaylee have four children.
