'Cats kick off season at Idaho State Winter Open

The 'Cats kicked off the indoor season with a dominating performance at the Idaho State Winter Open on December 12.Â
"Overall, it was a really great opening meet for the groups that we brought up here," head coach Corbin Talley said. " I was very pleased to see a lot of their hard work from the fall payoff."Â Â
Rodee Brow led the squad with a first place finish in the 400 meter with a time of 48.51 and Alex Wheeler finished second at 48.69
Bryson Ottley finished the 800 meter in first place with a time of 1:52.96 and Henry Prusse finished second at 1:57.60.Â
Jeims Molina competed unattached in the weight throw and finished first with a mark of 61-11.50, Jake Weathers recorded a third place finish with a mark of 58-08.75 and Ryan Johnson finished sixth at 50-07.50.Â
Wyatt Wingard recorded a first palace finish in the 5000 meter with a time of 15:21.98
Brown, Spalding, Wheeler and Brogan Garrett recorded a first place finish in the 4x400 meter with a time of 3:17.99 and Johnson, Ottley, Taylor and Prusse finished third at 3:23.88.Â
"It's always nice to individual wins, so great job to Jeims Molina, Kale Thomas, Rodee Brow, Bryson Ottley, Wyatt Wingard, and our 4x400 relay," Talley said. "And we had a few others who were close to pulling off victories."Â
Kale Thomas finished first in the high jump at 6-08.00 and Talbot finished eighth at 5-10.00.Â
Malik Johnson recorded a second place finish in the 60 meter hurdle with a time of 8.26, Eli Taylor finished third at 8.36 and Ryan Talbot finished fifth at 8.69.Â
Noah Kjar finished third in 60 meters with a time of 6.93, Brow finished fourth at 6.94, Tristan Spalding finished eighth at 7.08 and Taylor finished 9th at 7.17.Â
Spalding finished third in the 200 meter with a time of 22.17, Kjar finished fifth at 22.68, Johnson finished seventh with a time of 23.24, Taylor finished eighth at 23.27 and Talbot finished 14th at 25.01.Â
Parker Sagers led the 'Cats with a third place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 15-01.00 and Talbot finished fourth at 14-01.25.Â
"This gave us a great indication of some things we might be able to accomplish in January and February," Talley said. "We're definitely going to keep working hard and get some solid improvementsfrom there."Â
The Wildcats will be back in action at home for the Weber State Indoor Invitational on January 10 & 11.
