Wildcat Track and FIeld kicks off the Indoor Season at Idaho State

Wildcat track and field kicked off the indoor season at the Idaho State Winter Open on December 6 in Pocatello, Idaho.

"This is the best first meet I can remember in a long time for our sprinters, long jumpers and throwers," head coach Paul Pilkington said. "I felt good about the meet and so did the girls, it was a good day."

Kapua Pulotu finished first in the shot put with a mark of 47-01.75, Bailey Tovey finished 40-10.25 and Rachel Roberts finished sixth at 40-07.00.

"Kapua did well and threw seven feet above other athletes," Pilkington said.

Makayla Oliver led the squad with a first place finish in the 60 meters at 7.78, Jasmine Devers finished second at 7.84 and Smith finished fifth at 8.09.

Devers recorded a first place finish in the 400 meter with a time of 58.98, Charlotte Wilkinson finished second at 59.05 and Smith finished third at 1:00.07.

Devers recorded a first palace finish in the 200 meter at 25.14, Oliver finished second at 25.14 and Gwilliam finished 12th at 27.51.

"Our sprinters had a good meet, coach Moore is doing great things," Pilkington said.

Loryn Brimhall finished second in the 800 meter with a time of 2:28.21.

Eliza Smith recorded a third palace finish in the 60 meter hurdle with a time of 8.97 and Emily Gwilliam finished seventh with a time of 9.29.

Aimee Chambers-Lenthe finished second in the high jump at 5-05.00, Abbey Triplett finished third at 5-03.00 and Abby Titus finished 8th at 4-11.00.

Bailey Tovey finished fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 48-07.25, Teisa Halaufia finished eight at 47-10.00 and Shannan Fonua finished 11th at 41-03.75.

The 'Cats will be back in action for the Snake River Invitational on January 16 & 17 hosted by Idaho State.
