Wildcat women's team posts strong performances in home meet

The 'Cats had four first place finishes in the Wildcat Invitational.
The Weber State women's track and field team opened up 2025 with a strong performance as the hosts of the Wildcat Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Ogden. The Wildcats combined to win four events and had several other strong performances in the only home meet of the season.Â
In the field events, the 'Cats took first place in three events. Abby Triplett and Aimee Chambers finished in a tie for first in the high jump with a mark of 5-07 and Stacia Barker was third at 5-05.Â
Makayla Oliver won the long jump with a mark of 17-02.25 and Shanna Fonua was first in the weight throw at 53-07.75.
In Saturday's track events, Weber State's Laurie Murphy took home first place in the mile run with a time of 5:02.88, followed by Danielle Brow in second at 5:04.68. Hannah Bailey was third at 5:08.62.Â
Angelyca Chapman was second in the 400 meters at 57.98 and Jasmine Devers took second place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.26.Â
Audrey Camp Cazier finished second in the 800 meters at 2:19.50 and Eliza Smith was third in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.12. The 'Cats also claimed second in the 4x400 meter relay at 4:04.95.Â
The Wildcats will next compete at the Snake River Open on Friday, January 17 in Pocatello, Idaho.Â
