Wildcats late run is not enough, fall to Eagles

Ogden, UT – The Weber State women's basketball team closed out the weekend with a 74-54 loss against the Eastern Washington Eagles.

The Wildcats got on the board first with a jumper by Daryn Hickok and then quickly found themselves with an early 5-0 lead over the Eagles. A turnover by the 'Cats brought the Eagles to trail by one 7-6 and quickly after an Eastern Washington 3-pointer, the Eagles took the advantage 9-7. Continuing to work to gain back the lead, the Wildcats chipped away at the deficit to end the quarter 18-16.

Struggling to find the bottom of the net in the second quarter, the Wildcats went into the half trailing 39-20 and made only four points compared to the Eagles 20.

The Eagles couldn't be stopped on the afternoon and the Eastern Washington squad held a 22-point advantage going into the final frame.

Helping to improve the Wildcat offense, Weber State had an 14-0 run to trail by just nine points. Wildcat defense allowed the Eagles nothing in the fourth quarter as the Eastern Washington squad was scoreless up until a pair of free throws in the fifth minute. However, the Wildcats only found one more point after that and the Eagles went on to close the game 74-54.

Notes:

Daryn Hickok was the sole Wildcat in double digits on the afternoon. She led the 'Cats with 14 points.
Weber State had 21 turnovers, which the Eagles turned into 27 points.
Weber State shot 76.9 percent from the field compared to Eastern Washington's 93.8 percent.
WSU went 6-12 in 3-pointers, shooting 50 percent.
