Wildcats drop game to Bengals at home

Ogden, UT - The Weber State women's basketball team played a tough Idaho State team Saturday as the Bengals jumped out to an early lead and then cruised to a 72-57 victory at the Dee Events Center.

Weber State stayed close to Idaho State to open the game however, a 9-0 run near the end of the first quarter allowed the Bengals to take the lead 16-12 over the Wildcats.

Trailing by six (20-14) going into the second quarter, the Wildcats couldn't find the bottom of the net to take over the lead. Keeping close scoring wise, Weber State had 14 points to Idaho State's 16 and the Wildcats ended the half 36-28.

Into the second half, the Wildcats were looking to claw their way back into the contest. A trio of Kendra Parra 3-pointers helped cut the deficit to six points for the 'Cats. The Bengals made 12 points off of free throws in the fourth quarter which allowed the visiting side to pull away from the Wildcats. With under 30 seconds left of game play, the Bengals 6-0 run awarded them the 72-57 victory.

Weber State will now look to snap its four-game losing streak Thursday when they play the Northern Colorado Bears.

Kendra Parra led the team with 19 points and went 5-9 in 3-pointers.
Weber State shot best in the first quarter at 54.5 percent.
The Wildcats struggled with their free throws, shooting 58.5 percent.
