GAME NOTES: Weber State in Portland for a match up against the Vikings

• Weber State women's basketball hits the road for a game against the Portland State Vikings.

• The Wildcats and Vikings will tip off at 7 p.m. from the Viking Pavilion in Portland, OR. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Live video links and stats can be found at WeberStateSports.com.

• Weber State is 6-17 and 3-7 in the Big Sky and currently sit in eighth place. The Wildcats started with their first seven games on the road but then won three straight games with wins over Nevada, Utah Tech, and Westminster. The Wildcats are coming off a home game loss against the Northern Colorado Bears, 63-73.

• Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 11th in the Big Sky at 12.2 points per game and has scored in double figures in fourteen games for the Wildcats. Hickok leads the team in scoring, free throws, and steals. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 126 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks fourth in career scoring.

• Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures twelve times this season and is second in scoring at 11.1 points per game. Matthews collected a career high 30 points in the Wildcats game against Sacramento State while also recording a season high 11 rebounds and five assists. She is first in rebounding and second in assists for Weber State. Matthews has played in 134 career games at Weber State and ranks first in Weber State history in career games played. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and 10th in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.

Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster. 

• Portland State is 5-17, 0-10 on the season. The Vikings lost their last game against the Eastern Washington Eagles, 39-63. Their last win was against Bushnell, 69-60. The Portland State squad is led by Esmeralda Morales in scoring, 3-pointers and assists. Morales leads in the Big Sky in scoring averaging 17.4 points per game and free throw percentage at .909. The Vikings currently sit in 10th place in the Big Sky.

This will be the 62nd all-time meeting between the two schools with a series of 31-31. In the last match up between the two teams, the Wildcats beat the Vikings 89-53. Portland State is 19-11 in all-time games in Portland. The Vikings last win in the series was on 1/19/23.

After Thursday's game, the Wildcats travel to Sacramento, CA for a game against the Sacramento State Hornets Saturday, Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. (MT).
