Wildcats hold off Vikings for road win

Portland, OR - The Weber State women's basketball team earned its second win over the Vikings this season, 67-46.
Weber State established an early lead on the Vikings, going up 11-6 with just under four minutes remaining on the clock. Two pairs of free throws made by Jadyn Matthews and Amelia Raidaveta extended the Wildcats lead and Weber State ended the quarter 17-8.
Scoring was hard to come by in the second quarter for the Wildcats as they had 12 points compared to their first quarter 17. Looking for the bottom of the net after a media timeout, the Weber State squad was back in action. A couple of Wildcat layups extended the 'Cats lead 29-18 heading into the half. Matthews ended the quarter with 11 points for Weber State. WSU shot 46% from the field compared to the Vikings 21%.
The Wildcats were effective in the third. Emri Lovell connected from the three point line twice to help build the lead over the Vikings. Finding their shooting groove again after the half, Weber State recorded 20 points and controlled the game into the final frame 49-34.
The team was in cruise control in the fourth quarter. Out scoring Portland State 18-12 and closing out the Vikings. The Wildcats won the game 67-46.
