GAME NOTES: Wildcats set to face Vikings in first round of Big Sky Tournament

• Weber State women's basketball heads to the Big Sky Tournament in Boise, ID at the Idaho Central Arena. The Wildcats are up against the Portland State Vikings in the first round of the tournament.
• The Wildcats and Vikings will tip off at 12 p.m. from the Idaho Central Arena in Boise, ID. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Live video links and stats can be found at WeberStateSports.com.
• Weber State is 7-24, 4-14 and finished the regular season as the ninth seed in the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcats are coming off a home game loss against the Montana State Bobcats, 67-65.
• Weber State has been led by senior Daryn Hickok. She is 10th in the Big Sky at 12.3 points per game and has scored in double figures in 21 games for the Wildcats. Hickok leads the team in scoring, free throws, and steals. Hickok was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference team and earned All-Big Sky honors last year. She has played in 134 games in five seasons at Weber State and ranks third in career scoring.
• Senior Jadyn Matthews has scored in double figures 16 times this season and is second in scoring for Weber State. Matthews collected a career high 30 points in the Wildcats game against Sacramento State on 1/11/24 while also recording a season high 11 rebounds and five assists. She is first in rebounding and second in assists for Weber State. Matthews has played in 142 career games at Weber State and ranks first in Weber State history in career games played. She also ranks fourth in career rebounding and eighth in career scoring. She was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring last season.
• Weber State is under the direction of first year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history in April. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the last two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.
• Portland State is 8-22, 3-15 on the season. The Vikings lost their last game 60-44 against the Idaho Vandals. Portland State finished at the No. 10 seed in the Big Sky Conference. The Vikings are led by Esmeralda Morales in scoring (17), free throws (3.4), and assists (2.8). Morales ranks first in the Big Sky in scoring and free throw percentage.
• This will be the 64th all-time meeting between the two teams with a series of 32-31 for the Wildcats. In the last match up between the two, the Wildcats defeated the Vikings 67-64 in Portland.
