GAME NOTES: Weber State up against Sacramento State Saturday

Weber State women's basketball will matchup against the Sacramento State Hornets this Saturday at the Dee Events Center.

This will be the 57th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Hornets. The series is led by Weber State 35-21 with the Wildcats leading 20-8 in Ogden. In the last game between the two, the Hornets won 75-44 in Sacramento.

Sacramento State is under the direction of Aaron Kallhoff who is in his second season with the Hornets. Kallhoff joined the Hornets after spending the past seven years at Power 5 women's basketball programs (BYU, Penn State, LSU, TCU). Kallhoff also has two years of Division I experience at Arkansas State and 10 years at the junior college level.

The Hornets are 10-9, 3-3 this season with their most recent win over the Idaho State Bengals 72-63. Sacramento State is led by Jaydia Martin who averages 14.7 points per game. Martin also leads the team in 3-pointers, rebounds and steals. Sacramento State was picked fourth in the Big Sky Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Four Wildcats are nationally ranked; Taylor Smith is ranked No. 7 in free throw percentage, No. 165 in field goal percentage and No. 122 in blocks per game. Kendra Parra is ranked No. 16 in free throw percentage. Antoniette Emma-Nnopu is ranked No. 44 in rebounds per game and No. 29 in offensive rebounds per game. Lanae Billy is ranked No. 202 in 3-pointers per game.

Weber State is under the direction of second year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.

Wildcats Kendra Parra, Kennedy Eskelson, Margarita Satini, Taylor Smith, and Amanda Edwards all return to the Weber State team this season. Weber State picked up transfers Rose Bubakar from BYU, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu from UNC Greensboro, Lanae Billy from Fort Lewis College, Japrix Stubbs from USU Eastern, and Arizana Peaua from Westminster. The team also welcomed five newcomers, Maya Davis, Fui Niumeitolu, Mata Peaua, Dakota Nap, and Vanna Quintana.

Following Saturday's game, the Wildcats travel on a four game stretch taking on opponents Idaho, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and Idaho State.
