GAME NOTES: Wildcats hit the road for matchup against Vandals

Weber State is 4-3 in Big Sky Conference play.

Weber State women's basketball will matchup against the Idaho Vandals this Thursday at the ICCU Arena in Moscow.

This will be the 55th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Vandals. The series is led by Idaho 33-22 with the Vandals leading in Moscow 18-7. In the last game between the two, the Vandals won 60-47 in Ogden.

Idaho is under the direction of Arthur Moreira; a native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, is in his third season with the Vandals. Prior to his time at Idaho, Moreira served as an assistant coach for the Brazilian Basketball Federation and spent seven seasons at the University of San Francisco as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

The Vandals are 14-5, 6-2 this season. The Vandals dropped their most recent game 106-76, to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. Idaho is led by Olivia Nelson who averages 13.4 points per game and Jennifer Aadland who leads the team in rebounds with 9.8 per game. Idaho was picked seventh in the Big Sky Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Weber State is under the direction of second year head coach Jenteal Jackson who was named the seventh head coach in WSU history. A Utah native and former in-state college player, she came to Weber State after spending the two seasons as head coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Prior to becoming head coach, she spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Westminster. She played college basketball at BYU and Westminster.

Kendra Parra recorded a career-high 30 points in the Wildcats previous game against Sacramento State. Dominating offensively and defensively, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu recorded her sixth double-double of the season as she finished the game with 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Three Wildcats are nationally ranked in the top 100. Taylor Smith is ranked No. 9 in free throw percentage and Kendra Parra is ranked No. 12. Antoniette Emma-Nnopu is ranked No. 79 in rebounds, No. 25 in offensive rebounds and No. 33 in rebounds per game.

Wildcats Kendra Parra, Kennedy Eskelson, Margarita Satini, Taylor Smith, and Amanda Edwards all return to the Weber State team this season. Weber State picked up transfers Rose Bubakar from BYU, Antoniette Emma-Nnopu from UNC Greensboro, Lanae Billy from Fort Lewis College, Japrix Stubbs from USU Eastern, and Arizana Peaua from Westminster. The team also welcomed five newcomers, Maya Davis, Fui Niumeitolu, Mata Peaua, Dakota Nap, and Vanna Quintana.

Following Thursday's game, the Wildcats continue on the road for matchups against Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and Idaho State.
