Hansen had two interceptions and six tackles in Weber State's win at Portland State.

After his performance in helping Weber State to Saturday's road win, Wildcat junior safety Kao Hansen has been named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.

Hansen earned the honor for his performance in Weber State's 43-27 road win at Portland State on Saturday.

He had two interceptions and six tackles in the win, part of five turnovers forced by the Wildcat defense.

He picked off a pass in the third quarter and returned it five yards, which led to a WSU field goal.

In the fourth quarter, he intercepted another pass and returned it 14 yards to the PSU one-yard line, and the Wildcats scored a touchdown on the next play.

The two interception returns totaled 19 yards.

He also finished with six tackles, including five solo tackles.

Hansen is in his fourth season in the Wildcat program and has played in 32 games in his Wildcat career.

He has 25 tackles in seven games played this season.

Weber State is home for the next two games, beginning this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Eastern Washington.
