Wildcats sweep Vikings at home

OGDEN - Weber State snapped its three-game losing streak with a dominant 3-0 sweep over Portland State on Thursday night.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, courtesy of a 5-0 run that included back-to-back service aces from Rose Moore to make it 7-2. Maintaining that momentum, another 5-0 stretch pushed the lead to 21-11. Finishing it off, Weber State closed out the set 25-17 with kills from Ashley Gneiting and Kaylie Ray. The Wildcats recorded five aces throughout the set and hit .353 on 15 kills and 34 attempts.
The Wildcats took control early again in the second set, using a six-point run to go up 8-2. Portland State answered with a 6-0 run of its own to close the gap, but the 'Cats responded once more, scoring seven straight points to pull away and claim another 25-17 win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set proved to be the most competitive, with multiple lead changes and ties. With the score tied at 20-20, and again at 23-23, a kill by Moore tied it once more at 24-24. Marly Pratt then secured the Wildcats fourteenth ace of the match to give the 'Cats a one-point lead. Moore sealed it off with another kill for a 26-24 win and completed the clean 3-0 sweep.
