'Cats fall to Hornets in Ogden

OGDEN - Weber State fell 3-0 in Swenson Gym this Saturday evening to the Sacramento State Hornets. The loss marks only the Wildcats second at home.
The Wildcats maintained a close lead to begin the opening set, however, a 6-0 Hornet run forced a Wildcat timeout. Returning from the break, Weber State rallied, but Sacramento State proved to be too much as they sealed the set 25-16.
Keeping it competitive from the start in the second set, both squads exchanged kills until the Hornets started to pull away at 13-9. Weber State battled back and tied the score late, going up by one at 23-22 following a kill by Rose Moore. Sacramento State then tied the set 24-24 and sealed it 26-24 with back-to-back blocks.
Weber State took an early lead to begin the third set however, Sacramento State snapped that using five straight points to go up 12-10. The Wildcats struggled to maintain control, and as they were unable to string together any runs, the Hornets swept the match with a 25-17 third set victory.
