LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf team recorded the best final round score of the field on Wednesday at the Big Sky Conference Championships, moving the Wildcats into second place as the tournament wrapped up at Wigwam Golf Club.

Weber State posted a 3-under par 281 on the day and was the lone team to finish the round in red figures. After opening the tournament with a 17-over par 301, the Wildcats played the final 36 holes in 1-under par, with a 2-over par 286 in Tuesday's second round ahead of Wednesday's 281. WSU finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 16-over par 868, 15 shots back of conference champion Sacramento State.

Weber State's final two days led the field, two shots better than the Hornets, who shot 3-over par over the last two rounds after opening with a 2-under par 282.

"So proud of my girls for the grit and fight they showed this week," said head coach Sara Hogue. "We didn't play well at all on Monday, but they regrouped and came out fighting the last two days. We just wanted to go out knowing we gave it our all and finish a great year off well and we did!"

Montana State finished one shot back of Weber State in third place, while Northern Arizona was another two shots back in fourth.

Cala Korman led the final day surge, posting four birdies against a lone bogey for a 3-under par 68. After opening with a 9-over par 80, Korman shot 70-68 to play the rest of the way in 4-under par and finished in 10th place at 5-over par 218.

Jade Gruher also finished in red figures on Wednesday, with six birdies in a 2-under par 69. Gruher led the team over the tournament, and after opening with rounds of 71 and 74, she finished in a team-best tie for sixth place at 1-over par 214.

Emma Lillywhite continued her strong recent run of play with rounds of 72, 74 and 71 for a 4-over par total of 217 to finish in ninth place to give the Wildcats three players inside the top-10. She carded four birdies in her even-par final round.

Senior Isabel Gutierrez wrapped up her collegiate career with rounds of 78, 70 and 73 and carded 10 birdies over the tournament to finish in a tie for 16th place at 8-over par 221.

Emily Song, who substituted for Sofia Fuenmayor for the final two rounds of play, shot a 7-over par 78 on Wednesday.

Montana State's Maddie Montoya earned the conference championship individual medalist honors, at 4-under par 209 after rounds of 70, 70 and 69. She finished one shot ahead of Sacramento State's Caitlin Maurice.

The Wildcats' second place finish is the best for the Weber State women's golf program since winning the Big Sky title back in 2001, and is the fourth-straight top-3 finish for the team in the tournament.
