In his rookie season, Dillon Jones won an NBA Championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder
From Weber State to an NBA champion. It's been quite a year for Weber State legend Dillon Jones.Â
On June 26, 2024, Jones was drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder following a memorable and historic career and final season with the Weber State men's basketball team.Â
On June 23, 2025, Jones won an NBA Championship with the Thunder following a seven game series win over the Indiana Pacers.Â
Jones is the first player ever from the Big Sky Conference to win an NBA Championship. He is also just the 10th player ever from a university in the state of Utah to win an NBA title.Â
During his rookie season with the Thunder, Jones appeared in 54 regular season games with the Thunder, helping the team to the best record in the NBA. He averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game during the season.Â
In the Thunder playoff run to an NBA title, he appeared in 10 games, including three games during the NBA Finals. He scored 23 points in 46 minutes during the Finals and became just the second player ever from the Big Sky to play in the Finals.Â
Last summer, following his final season at Weber State where he was named Big Sky MVP, Jones joined WSU legend Damian Lillard as the only Wildcats ever drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft when he was taken 26th overall last year by the Washington Wizards and then immediately traded to the Thunder.Â
Jones finished his four-year standout career at Weber State in 2024. He played in 119 games and finished his career ranking in the Weber State all-time top 10 in 13 statistical categories.Â
He finished his career as Weber State's all-time leader in steals and ranks second in assists, second in free throws made, third in rebounding, and fifth in points. He also ranks fourth in Big Sky history in rebounds. He also has 56 career double-doubles, the second-most in WSU history.Â
In his final year of 2023-24, he led the Big Sky in points, rebounds, and assists, the only player in the nation to lead a conference in all three categories. He was also one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year award. During the year, he became only the second player in the last 31 years to score at least 600 points, 300 rebounds, 150 assists, and 50 steals in a season. He finished the season 11th in the nation in double-doubles with 18 and was eighth in minutes played and third in defensive rebounds. He was also 23rd in the country in scoring and 23rd in overall rebounds per game.Â
