Aggies roll past Wildcats in straight sets

The Wildcats are 0-4 this season against in-state opponents Utah Tech, BYU, Utah Valley and Utah State.
LOGAN, Utah - Weber State dropped a three-set match this Saturday afternoon to the Utah State Aggies.Â
Utah State controlled the match early, using a 12-0 run to put distance between itself and Weber State in the opening set. The Aggies secured the frame 25-14, while the Wildcats managed just seven kills against five errors for a .087 hitting percentage. In a similar fashion, Utah State jumped out to an early seven-point lead to start the second set. Despite the Wildcats efforts to keep things competitive, the Aggies used a 5-0 run to finish the set 25-16 and increase their advantage in the match.
Down 2-0, Weber State was looking to extend the match. Coming out fighting, the Wildcats grabbed their first lead of the match at 7-6. Weber State built a three-point cushion behind kills from Kaylie Ray and Brielle Rueckert, along with an Aggie error. However, Utah State quickly responded with an eight-point run to switch the momentum and take a 15-11 lead. Despite Weber State's efforts to stay close, Utah State closed out the set 25-21 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
