Wildcats sweep Bears to start Big Sky play

The last time Weber State swept Northern Colorado in Ogden was in 2021.
OGDEN - Weber State volleyball started Big Sky Conference play in dominating fashion, sweeping Northern Colorado (25–22, 25–21, 25–14) Wednesday night.
The first set was closely contested from the start, with both teams exchanging runs and battling for each point. However, Weber State set the tone early using kills from Kaylie Ray and Rose Moore to build the Wildcats momentum. Northern Colorado hung close, but an Ashley Gneiting kill put the 'Cats up by three at 23-20, giving Weber State just enough separation for Ray to secure the set with a kill at 25-22.
The second set was similar to the first, as the Northern Colorado offense worked. Weber State responded to every push made by the Bears, as setter Morgan Pratt kept the attack balanced as she made assists that led to kills from Moore and Gneiting. The score was tight as the set came to a close, but a 3-0 run allowed the 'Cats to go up by four and close the set 25-21.
Dominating the third set from the start, Weber State flew ahead 16-6 to then quickly secure a 25-14 set win and sweep the Bears 3-0 in their first match of Big Sky play.
From Senior Ashley Gneiting:
"We just went in to be like we don't care if we win or lose, we just want to learn and get better and work on the things we can and play free. The biggest lesson is that we need to respect our opponent, no matter who they are. Those middles were pretty good, and we kept working at them. We kept working at it and learning throughout the game."
