Wildcats fall in straight sets to Hornets

SACRAMENTO, California - The Wildcats fell in three sets to Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon, dropping the match 25–14, 25–22, 25–12. Weber State rallied in the second set, holding the lead, but the Hornets finished it out strong in each frame to complete the sweep.
Sacramento State set the tone early, using a four-point run in the opening frame to pull away and claim the first set 25-14. Weber State responded in the second, piecing together a 6-1 run courtesy of three kills and a pair of blocks. The Hornets, however, chipped away at the deficit and eventually pulled within two. The set turned into a back-and-forth battle before Sacramento State claimed its first lead at 23-22 and sealed the set with back-to-back kills for a 25-22 win and a 2-0 match advantage. Through two sets, the Wildcats had 23 kills on a .212 hitting percentage, while the Hornets had 33 kills and hit .303 percent.
As the third set began, Sacramento State carried momentum and continued to dominate. The Hornets closed out the match 3-0, taking the set 25-12. Weber State struggled to find consistency, managing only nine kills and committing six errors over 23 attacks, which resulted in a .130 hitting percentage.
