Tulsa, OK — Connor Kruger and Ken Dinh of the Weber State men's tennis team competed in the ITA All-American Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, over the weekend.
The duo played matches against opponents from the University of Alabama and the University of Arkansas, but ultimately came up short in both matches to go 0-2 in the tournament.
Head Coach Brad Ferreira noted that the tandem "played some good tennis and had a number of chances but came up short."
In their opening match on Saturday, Kruger and Dinh fell to Vit Kalina and Matic Kriznik from the University of Alabama 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 10-6.
"At 2-2 in the second set, we had a chance to break serve and take control of the match, but could not pull it off," Ferreira said. "The third set was decided by a 10-point tiebreaker, and we started slow and could never catch up."
The Wildcats moved on to a consolation match on Sunday, where they took on a duo from the University of Arkansas. Kruger and Dinh dropped the match 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) to bring their weekend to a close.
Next up for the team is the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains on the campus of the Air Force Academy. That weekend tournament will run from Friday, September 26th, to Sunday, September 28th.
