Kam Garrett named Weber State football assistant coach

Garrett played four seasons at Weber State and will now coach the WSU cornerbacks.

OGDEN - A former Wildcat is returning as a coach. Weber State football head coach Eric Kjar has announced the hire of former WSU player Kam Garret to join the Wildcat staff. Garrett will coach the cornerbacks. 

Garrett comes to Weber State after spending the 2025 season as a graduate assistant coach and assistant cornerback coach at Idaho State. 

Garrett played four seasons at Weber State from 2019-22, where he was an All-Big Sky performer and was part of two Big Sky Championship teams and three teams that advanced to the FCS Playoffs. He played in 37 career games over four years with the Wildcats. 

He totaled 14 pass breakups and also had 75 career tackles with five tackles for loss and one sack. As a junior in 2022, he earned All-Big Sky honors. 

He transferred to BYU for his senior season in 2023. He appeared in 11 games that season for the Cougars and recorded five pass breakups with one interception. He also had 28 total tackles with 14 solo and 14 assisted tackles. He had a season-high five tackles in the season finale at Oklahoma State and had an interception against Southern Utah. 

Over his five seasons at Weber State and BYU, he played in 48 games and recorded 19 pass breakups and one interception. He also had 103 total tackles with six tackles for loss. 

Garrett is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from BYU in 2023 with a degree in Business Management.
