Weber State returns to Wildcat Soccer Field Thursday night for its first home conference match of the season
OGDEN, Utah — After earning four points on the road to open Big Sky Conference play, Weber State women's soccer returns home Thursday night to host Utah Tech at Wildcat Soccer Field.
The Wildcats enter Thursday's matchup with a 5-5-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 mark in conference play after opening the Big Sky season with a 1-1 draw at Idaho and a 3-2 victory at Eastern Washington.
Weber State put together a strong offensive performance against the Eagles, scoring three times in the first 32 minutes. Lily Blum opened the scoring before Oakley Anderson and Mina Nydegger added goals to give the Wildcats a 3-0 halftime advantage. Harlee Thomas recorded two assists in the match, while Sayler Schlosser added an assist.
The Wildcats held off a second-half push from Eastern Washington to secure the road victory and return home with four points from their opening conference weekend.
"Getting four points away from home is a good start to conference play," head coach Kyle Christensen said.
Utah Tech enters Thursday's match with a 6-4-1 overall record and a perfect 2-0 mark in its first Big Sky season. The Trailblazers opened conference play with consecutive home victories over Portland State and Montana, earning a 2-1 win over Portland State before shutting out Montana 2-0 on Sunday.
Thursday marks Weber State's first home conference match of the season and will also serve as Alumni Night at Wildcat Soccer Field. The Wildcats will look to continue their strong start to conference play in front of the home crowd.
The Wildcats and Trailblazers will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Soccer Field. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on Weberstatesports.com.
