Wildcats Score Five in Shutout Win Over Utah Tech

10/8/2026 10:01:00 PM | Women's Soccer

Weber State scores three goals in the first half and adds two more after the break to earn its first home conference victory

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State women's soccer delivered a dominant performance in its first home Big Sky Conference match of the season Thursday night, defeating Utah Tech 5-0 at Wildcat Soccer Field on Alumni Night.

The Wildcats wasted no time finding the back of the net, as Sayler Schlosser scored just 1:12 into the match to give Weber State an early lead.

Lily Blum doubled the advantage in the ninth minute, scoring at 8:23 off an assist from Amanda Caswell.

Blum added her second goal of the night in the 32nd minute, finding the back of the net at 31:57 off an assist from Schlosser to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

Weber State continued its offensive pressure after the break, adding two more goals in the second half.

Simone Packer scored at 61:23 off an assist from Bonnie Buswell before Cici Garcia added the final goal of the night at 66:42, also assisted by Buswell.

The five goal performance was exactly the kind of start head coach Kyle Christensen wanted to see from his team in its first home conference match.

First home game of the conference and it just felt like everything came together, Christensen said. The team was ready for this, they wanted it. It started fast and continued to play well the whole game.

The Wildcats finished the night with 18 shots, including six on goal, while holding Utah Tech to eight shots and just one shot on goal.

Blum led Weber State with five shots and two shots on goal, while Schlosser finished with three shots and two on goal. Packer recorded three shots, Garcia added one shot on goal and Isabella Sackett finished with two shots.

The Wildcats also recorded their second consecutive shutout. Lauren Butorac played the first 71 minutes and made one save before Maya Cordova entered in goal for the final 19 minutes to help preserve the clean sheet.

It was a special night, Alumni Night with our class of 2027 here as well, said Christensen. There was a lot riding on the line. Obviously every conference game is massive in terms of trying to get three points each game, it just all came together.

The victory moves Weber State to 6-5-2 overall and 2-0-1 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats return to action Sunday when they host Southern Utah at Wildcat Soccer Field at 1 p.m. MT.
