Weber State Falls Short to Utah Tech in Four Sets

Weber State volleyball fell 3-1 to Utah Tech Thursday night at Burns Arena, dropping the Wildcats to 9-6 overall and 2-3 in Big Sky play.
Weber State came out strong in the opening set, battling Utah Tech through a tight finish. The Wildcats pulled away late to take the first set 25-23 and grab an early lead.
Utah Tech responded in the second set, using a late push to take a 25-22 win and even the match at one set apiece. The Trailblazers carried that momentum into the third set, taking control early and earning a 25-12 victory to move ahead 2-1.
The Wildcats looked to respond in the fourth set, but Utah Tech maintained its advantage down the stretch to secure a 25-20 win and close out the match.
Rose Moore led Weber State with 14 kills and added 11 digs. Maggie Larsen finished with 12 kills and four blocks, while Ziya Munyer contributed six kills and a team-high six blocks. Addison Eastwood recorded 39 assists and 14 digs, and Marly Pratt added 15 digs.
Weber State finished with 46 kills and 12 total blocks, while Utah Tech recorded 59 kills and hit .258 as a team.
The Wildcats will continue Big Sky Conference play Saturday when they face Southern Utah.
