Weber State women's basketball picked up its second win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Denver 64-51 at the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcats improved to 2-0 on the season with the 13-point victory, holding Denver to just 51 points while leading throughout much of the contest.

Grace Hintz led Weber State with 22 points, finishing 7-of-11 from the field and 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. She also added eight rebounds and a steal.

Weber found its rhythm early after Denver opened the game with a 4-0 run. The Wildcats responded with a three-pointer from Paris Lauro to take their first lead of the afternoon. Weber closed out the first quarter on a strong run, taking a 16-8 advantage into the second.

The Wildcats continued to build on that lead in the second quarter. Weber got contributions from several players, including Nicole Willardson, who knocked down a three-pointer, and Hintz, who added another triple to help keep the Wildcats in front. Weber went into halftime with a 32-24 lead.

Weber kept the momentum going coming out of the break, opening the third quarter with baskets from Draya Wacker, Willardson and Sydney White. The Wildcats continued to get production from across the lineup and carried a 49-39 advantage into the final quarter.

Denver made a push in the fourth, cutting the deficit to nine, but Weber answered with a three-pointer from Wacker and a layup from Hintz to maintain control. The Wildcats also took care of business at the free-throw line down the stretch, going 10-for-10 to secure the 64-51 win.

Wacker and Lauro each finished with 10 points, while White added eight points and a game-high six assists. Siena Guttadauro contributed five points and two assists.

Weber State finished the afternoon shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range. The Wildcats also forced 13 Denver turnovers and turned those opportunities into 19 points.

The Wildcats return to action with a 2-0 record after picking up their second win of the season as they prepare to face the Houston Christian Huskies.
