Weber State Volleyball opens the 2026 season hosting the Wildcat Invitational

The Weber State volleyball team officially opens the 2026 season this weekend, hosting the Wildcat Invitational at Swenson Gym.

For the fifth-straight year, Weber State will open the season hosting a tournament.

This year's Wildcat Invitational includes Weber State, Belmont, San Francisco, and San Jose State, and will consist of six games over three days.

The Wildcats open the season Friday, Aug. 28, against San Francisco at 6 p.m. Weber State will play twice on Saturday, taking on San Jose State at 1:30 p.m. before facing Belmont at 7:30 p.m.

The tournament begins Friday at 3 p.m. with Belmont taking on San Jose State. Belmont and San Francisco will play Saturday at 11:30 a.m., with the tournament concluding Sunday at 11 a.m. with San Francisco facing San Jose State.

Saturday, Aug. 29
11:30 a.m. — Belmont vs. San Francisco
1:30 p.m. — Weber State vs. San Jose State (ESPN+)
7:30 p.m. — Weber State vs. Belmont (ESPN+)

Sunday, Aug. 30
11 a.m. — San Francisco vs. San Jose State

The three Weber State matches in the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Live stats will be available for all six matches at WeberStateSports.com and the Weber State Wildcats app.

Weber State enters the season picked fifth in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll. Senior Rose Moore was named to the Big Sky Preseason All-Conference Team after earning first-team All-Big Sky honors last season. Moore finished sixth in the Big Sky in kills at 3.25 per set in 2025 and was fourth in the conference in points at 3.99 per set.

Head coach Jeremiah Larsen begins his 12th season as head coach of the Wildcats.

After this weekend, the Wildcats will play two games at Cal State Bakersfield next weekend, before three games at the Nevada Tournament Sept. 10-12.

The Wildcats will host Utah State on September 15 and BYU on September 17.
